Reservations are required in advance and can be booked directly through our website (at the link above).
If we do not have not enough space for your group for our 9am-11am tour, please contact us at sales@kauaisugarloaf.com. We may be able to open an afternoon tour from 1pm-3pm.
The Kauai Sugarloaf tour is a two hour long farm tour. Adults are $85 per person ($45 for pre-teen children, free for children 4 and under). We offer tours only on Thursdays at 9 a.m. If the morning tour is full we will consider adding an afternoon tour at 1 p.m. Tours are limited in size and often fill up quickly, so make sure to reserve your spot early.
Directions to the farm will be forwarded via email once your reservation is made. Our farm is located in a small town called Moloa'a, which is between the town of Anahola and Kilauea, where the lighthouse is located. Moloa'a is about a 30 minute drive North of the Lihue Airport and about a 30 minute drive South from the beach town of Hanalei.
Your tour guide(s) will be the owners, Jude and Paul Huber, of Hole in the Mountain Farm, home to Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple. During the tour we will walk through some of the fields, learn about the farm, some of the history of pineapple in the islands, and all aspects of growing pineapple. Participants will see over 250,000 Kauai Sugarloaf White pineapple plants growing and your guide will show you pineapple plants as it develops through all its stages. Mother Nature permitting, you will see the beautiful red heart stage, the gorgeous flowering stage, as well as both immature and mature fruit. If Mother Nature is cooperating, each participant will harvest a small Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple from the field, which is theirs to keep and take home. Your tour guide will also harvest numerous field ripened pineapples for everyone to experience the ultimate - field tasting a freshly harvested pineapple - as nothing compares to the experience of tasting a Kauaʻi Sugarloaf Pineapple picked fresh from the field. Each participant will learn how to plant a pineapple and then each participant will plant their own Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple in a newly prepared field.
The tour concludes with a complimentary, Paulie's Pineapple Phrostie, a frozen delight made from only 100% Kauaʻi Sugarloaf Pineapple that tastes like soft serve ice cream, so much so you'll swear there has to be dairy and sugar in it. T-Shirts, tank tops and dehydrated Kauaʻi Sugarloaf Pineapple will be available for sale.
We have been doing the tours, once a week for over a four years now, and so far Mother Nature has cooperated with pineapple to harvest, pineapple to sell and provided us with the beautiful flowering and red heart stage, but we do ask you to understand there may be a time when she is not so cooperative. We are masters of finding her hidden gems.
Since we started doing farm tours we soon became overjoyed with many responses and requests. People had been asking about tours for a couple of years and we finally made it happen.
