Fruit Reviews

We love sharing our Kauaʻi-grown Sugarloaf Pineapple with our customers and it’s always great to hear back from them. Whether they are discovering Sugarloaf white pineapple for the first time or it’s a longtime favorite, people get excited about this fruit and think it’s something special. We do too.

a man and a woman standing in front of a storeTyler’s mom planted four tops that we brought back in July in her Phoenix, AZ garden and they are doing surprisingly well. We’re excited to add these 12 (tops) and hope that we get some pineapple half as good as yours.

We hope all is well in Kauai and that you have a great Christmas and New Years! We can’t wait to share the pineapples with our family and friends over Christmas and New Years.

Thanks again for enhancing the island experience for all of my family. — Brian and Tyler, Chicago IL

We fell in love with your pineapples on a trip to Kauai a about 3 years ago. We traveled to the farmers’ market to get others after our first. This summer when our family went to the Big Island, my brother and his family went with us for the first time. We bought another white pineapple at the farmers market, but my sister (Bonita) and my husband and I kept talking about how it couldn’t compare with your Sugarloaf. When my brother got home he searched out you guys and discovered you are growing them year round now and shipping to the mainland. He ordered three in August and now is gifting family for birthdays with these wonderful pineapples. Thank you guys for growing them and shipping them. — Janice (Tennessee)

”OH MY GOSH they are so good! I received the pineapple this morning. I immediately unboxed them, cut them up and ate 1 whole pineapple! They are so sweet, and the flavor is like they were infused with honeyAmazing, fantastic, delicious and every other good adjective there is. Thank you so much, and they are most definitely worth the wait!” — Bob (Discovery Bay, California)

“The beautiful deep-jade-green pineapples were stunning and so delicious. The white flesh came as a surprise but the sweetness and ripeness of the fruit were exceptional.”– Catherine (Wellesley, Massachusetts)

“It’s amazing, it melts in your mouth, its smooth, no bite. Not just sweet but lots of flavor.“— Aliya N (Redmond, Washington)

“This pineapple tastes like… more, please!”
— Harry (Tacoma, Washington)

“Best thing I ever put in my mouth!  There are no words to describe how sweet these pineapples are!”
— Shannon (Glen Allen, Virginia)

“Tonight my husband and I had the first Sugarloaf Pineapple and it was absolutely delicious.  We were trying to figure out what was different about it because it was still sweet and juicy but the flesh was more delicate.  We will enjoy the next two in the next couple of days. Thank you so much for introducing us to this wonderful variety of pineapple.” — Rosemary (California)

“The pineapples arrived! We were in heaven! Imagine us looking at the several inches of snow coming down today and eating delicious pineapple. They tasted like heaven! I don’t think I’ve tasted better pineapple in my life! I don’t think I’ve had pineapple where you can eat the core like that. The smiles you put on my sons and our faces were unforgettable. Thank you!”  — Stacy (Minnesota)

“Mahalo nui loa Jude!  The wonderful, amazingly delicious pineapples arrived today…  We will spread the word (and incredible taste) to more of our friends thanks to you.  Here’s wishing you much continued success.”  — Rafael (Massachusetts)

“I really admire your knowledge and enthusiasm for my favorite fruit. However, even more impressive is the flavor of your product. Indescribably delicious… And you were totally right about the core… Even it was great.”  — Bryan and Susan (Santa Barbara, California)

Tour Reviews

We love hosting guests visiting our farm where we grow Kauaʻi Sugarloaf Pineapple, and it’s always great to hear back from them. Be sure to check out the rave reviews of our fruit as well.

My mom and I had such a wonderful time on Jude and Paul’s farm today! Their pineapple is truly remarkable- everything from the texture to the flavor sets it miles apart from your conventional pineapple.

The tour itself was great from start to finish. Jude and Paul had waters and rambutan (also grown on their farm) set out for everyone before the tour started and they made sure that everything was accommodated for. Jude led the tour and she is really a force of nature! She’s so knowledgeable about the science of pineapples (is there a term for this haha?) and really breaks down the process it takes to produce a pineapple as great as hers with a sense of humor. It’s definiteley a very intimate business as she and Paul get their hands dirty with the entire work flow (her guns will prove that she pulls her weight in the fields!). The tour is really cool because it involves the chance to plant and harvest a pineapple, and you learn quite a bit about the technique.

The tour ends with us sampling freshly harvested a ton of pineapple and eating as much “phrostie” (think dole whip but with Sugarloaf pineapple and 100% better) as you could want. Plus, you get to take home a pineapple you plucked from the field!

If it’s not evident from my review, this tour is a must if you a) love pineapples, b) want to support a local business, c) want to learn more about the growing and harvesting of one Hawaii’s national treasures! — Samantha (California)

Keegan and I wanted to say another big thank you. We thoroughly enjoyed your tour yesterday. We brought the pineapple back and cut it open for all to have here at our condo. You are very knowledgeable and very personable which made the tour excellent. Thank you for even sharing some extras cool treats with our crew in the van. They gulped t it up in 2 seconds flat. — Shannon & Keegan (Vancouver Island)

Thanks, Paul and Jude, for an outstanding tour of Hole-in-the-Mountain Farm! When we arrived and were greeted with Paul’s and Panda’s welcoming, we knew we were definitely in the right place! It only got better after that!
a group of people standing on top of a dirt fieldOur tour was with Paul and it was fascinating to learn about your ongoing journey in learning, experimenting, and developing your methods for growing the absolute best pineapples on earth – your Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple! It was exciting to hear about the science behind growing pineapples. It was fun planting a pineapple ourselves – and, of course, picking pineapples and then eating the just-harvested pineapples right in the field! We couldn’t get enough – your pineapples are addictive!
We were embarrassed about how much pineapple we ate and felt guilty every time we went back to the table while other people elbowed in the competition to get another piece of your incredible pineapples! – But not so embarrassed that we sat back!
Our embarrassment continued as we ate Paulie’s Pineapple Phrosties – we ate three each! — and would still be there eating them if the second group hadn’t shown up for their first phrosty fix – or should I say “phix”!!
We’ve gone on many tours on Kauai over the years and your tour is among the very best! Thanks to Paul, Jude, Nicci and Panda – for your passion and warm hospitality! Your ongoing quest, discovery and success in growing the finest pineapples is inspirational! — Elizabeth & Randy (New Jersey)

We want to thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtfulness that made it possible for us to tour your awesome farm. We had watched every Youtube video we could find before coming to Kauai and I must say that actually being with you both was way beyond any of our expectations. Hearing your personal stories was so cool and the extensive knowledge you shared, combined with the hands on activities made for the highlight of our stay on Kauai. There is no way we could ever thank you enough for opening up your farm and your lives, let alone describe the flavor and texture of the Sugarloaf pineapples. You were beyond generous with the fresh, off the plant, samples and a whole pineapple each to take with us. Amazing! The Phrosties you made were to die for. I personally had two and a half. Yum! Needless to say we will be highly recommending that any of our family and friends that come to Kauai reserve a farm tour and at the very least order your pineapples online. I am about to do so myself, as I can’t wait to share both our experience and your awesome sugarloaf pineapples back home. Blessings and Mahalo from our family to yours. — Dave (Oregon)

The Sugarloaf pineapple has absolutely been the most delicious pineapple I have ever tasted. I brought some back for my family and friends to taste and the pineapples were gone in a matter of minutes with everyone asking for more.

My friends and I also joined Jude’s farm tour and it was such an awe inspiring and educational experience. We’d recommend anyone who will be travelling to Kauai to reserve time for this unique experience. The pineapple Phrosties you get to eat at the end of the tour will blow your mind. — Bonnie (Hong Kong)

We found ‘Hole in the Mountain Farm’ while browsing YouTube videos of Kauai. It was the first tour we booked for Kauai and we are so glad this happened. Thank you so much for the amazing tour, Jude! We are lucky to have tasted Kauai Sugarloaf pineapples, it was life changing. I will always remember Kauai Sugarloaf pineapples now every time I eat pineapples. Also, the Kauai Sugarloaf pineapple ‘ice cream’ was incredibly delicious. Growing pineapples is hard work, your passion and dedication is truly admirable. We also appreciate all the delicious Kauai Sugarloaf pineapples you gave us from the tour. — Tianlin (Toronto, Canada)

Thank-you for your most welcoming hospitality last Thursday at your very special pineapple plantation in Kauai. We really enjoyed ourselves.. the tour of your plantation was very informational. I had been bugging Mike to take me to a pineapple plantation for a few years… and for whatever reason, we never seemed to make it happen.

Low and behold on this year’s trip to The Islands – IT HAPPENED and all I can say is: it was worth the waitJ…  You guys were awesome and we have been raving to our friends about *sugarloaf pineapple* – it’s just too sad sugarloaf pineapple cannot be purchased here on the mainland.

The most impressive part of the entire day was the passion that both of you demonstrate for your lifestyle, business, finished product and pride of your journey to get there.  While I’m sure there have been ups and downs – the portrait that you paint is very impressive and certainly emotionally touching.  You put your heart and soul into all that you touch.  You make it human and that is why the experience was so incredible.

We are hoping that someday we will be able to visit *Hole In The Mountain Farm* again… until then please remain the fantastic human beings that you both are… and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take care of *cutie pie* – PANDA!!  The farm would not be complete without PANDA!!

We have consumed our 2 pineapples and shared some with our friends… THEY WERE A HIT!! — Mike & Francie (California)
